After travelling the world, I found home in Cardiff. Here I met my wife and together we are raising little Clara. I love the outdoors, we try to go away as much as we can. I used to climb although it has been difficult to find time. My favourite food has to be Jamon with grated tomato, olive oil and garlic, although I am also a big fan of fish and chips! My prononouns are he/his.

I work at Cardiff University, where we have a very special microscope. This microscope uses electrons, rather than light, to look at small things. When I say small things, I mean very, very small, we look at things that are 10 atoms wide (fifty thousand times smaller than the width of a hair).
-
My Typical Day:
I woke up early, prepare a crystal too look at by heating it up to over a 1000 degrees centigrades, and turn on my microscope to see what the atoms are doing!

Wake up at around 6 am.
I like walking to work, as it clears my head and I can plan the day.
I arrive to the laboratory (see below)!
Heat up my crystals and my materials.
Turn on the microscope (literally turn a key)
And after waiting a few hours and a little bit of alignement…

What I'd do with the prize money:
Build a collection of machines that demonstrate the physics of what I do.
