Mercury is super hot and super cold – the side facing the sun goes up to 427 degrees C, but the side facing away from the Sun goes down to minus 180 degrees C. Maybe there’s a spot in the middle on the edge between the hot and cold side where people can live, if we make it that far.
Imagine that most exoplanets (aka planets around other stars) are much closer to their stars than Mercury is to Sun. So many exoplanets can actually be even hotter than Mercury.
Mornings in Mercury could reach up to 430° Celsius which is 27 times hotter than the Earth. But since it does not have anything on its surface to keep the heat, it reaches -180° Celsius at night; almost 11x colder than the Earth! 🙂
Sure it is but it depends on where are you standing as one side is super hot but the other is really cold. Also as Mercury does not have an atmosphere is not the hottest planet of our solar system. This place belongs to venus.
