      Hi WillRud!

I am a Project Engineer working in fusion energy research.

I was inspired to work in fusion research because it’s a really exciting type of green energy. If we can create fusion power plants, we will have a new kind of nuclear power that creates less radioactive waste and is safer than normal (fission) power plants 🙂 I actually applied to work at UKAEA and didn’t care what job they gave me – I was just keen to be involved!

As a project engineer, it’s my job to make projects happen. I find out from customers want they need, then I come up with some concept designs. Next I work with designers, analysts, technicians, and more to actually get the project done. Without people like me, projects would take a lot longer and physicists would spend all their time on projects instead of research!
