      Hi news421dee!

So I was pretty good at maths (and performing arts haha) in school, but I thought a maths degree might not be that interesting and might not have many jobs. So I did a physics degree instead – like maths but more practical!

During my degree I realised that I might not enjoy a PhD, I have a really wide range of interests and don’t really enjoy sitting down and focussing on one specific thing for too long! So instead I joined a Graduate Scheme – where they train you up for a job. Now I work as an engineer on one of the biggest fusion experiments in the world! It’s awesome 🙂

So nothing really, specifically inspired me – I just kept making decision based on what I enjoyed (and what might get me a job haha) 🙂

I’ve always been interested in science since I was a kid. My dad is also a physicist and he used to talk to me a lot about science and spend time helping me do like mini experiments! When I was in year 12 at school as well, we visited CERN on a school trip and that was also the year when CERN announced the discovery of the Higgs boson so all of those things combined sort of made up my mind that I wanted to do physics from then on.
